Our last day in Peru has arrived already. It seems ages since we arrived, but it has also gone by far too quickly.

We had time this morning to visit a monkey sanctuary a few miles upstream from our lodge. Carys loves monkeys so we kept it a surprise and she loved it. They had a couple of hundred monkeys of about 10 different kinds. Most were roaming around free but new arrivals are kept in cages for their first few months. I'm not really sure how much of a sanctuary it is versus a tourist attraction, but either way it was fun.

After an hour there we took the boat back to Ceiba Tops and went for a last 40 minute walk through the jungle to see a Ceiba tree. It's thought to be 400 years old and is simply huge. They're not common in this area and it was a great sight. Photos really don't do it justice.

That's it. We leave here in an hour, at 130pm, for the approx 24 hour trip home. Boat to Iquitos, car to airport, plane #1 to Lima, plane #2 to Atlanta, plane #3 to Minneapolis and car to
home. A long way, but totally worth it. This has been a great trip. And we owe a big thank you Sand for planning and booking it...as always she exceeded expectations!

An update. Wifi failed at the lodge at lunch so I never got to send this post. It's now 920pm and we are at Lima airport (again) and we have wifi so I get to update and send this blog post. Boat, car and plane #1 done. Couple more planes and a car to go.

LAST DAY
Dear SNBC, Thanks for the Blogs. I now feel I have visited all of Peru myself, so maybe you have saved us an expensive trip. Where to next? There are a few other places I would like you to visit for us - will let you have the list. It might include Bolivia, Columbia (!!), Antartica, the Moon, and the Sahara Desert for example. Proxy/armchair tourism seems a good idea to me. Thank you again. We are pleased you had a great time. More later. Lots of love. D/M/FF
