Edit Blog Post
Its been awhile since the last blog and I apollogize. Here is what we have been up to since the last update;
We have gone from La Paz to Uyuni to see the Salar de Uyuni. Basically its a dessert, only instead of sand everywhere and EVERYTHING is salt, even the very hotel was made of salt, the chairs, tables, beds etc... salt. Just like snow the white salt reflects the sun, so I went shopping for cheap sunglasses but no success, instead I got a cap - minor success.
3 days 2 nights spent in Salar de Uyuni, and we were back in dusty Uyuni getting ready to catch a bus towards the Argentinian border in Villazon. About 23 hours later we were in Salta, a cosy and by the feeling more western city. Nothing special to see in Salta, so off to Cordoba, the 2nd biggest city Argentina. One day in Cordoba and we really wanted to leave.. for Mendoza, the city of wine, women, horsebackriding(?) and rafting - thats what we decided to do anyways, or some of those..
Christmas time was upon us, and Mendoza seemed like a perfect place to spent it. At the time
The Death Road * Crash
One of our fellow cyclists fell, almost over the edge. we were travelling with an english bloke called Rob (D´Artagnan (one of the 3-4 musketeers) by the looks). Anyways the three of us went christmas shopping:
- minced beef
- canned tomatoes
- onions
- garlic
- pasta
- vodka
- soda
- beers
- wine
- M&Ms
Spaghetti Bolognese for christmas, why not. Around 23:00 dinner was ready and less than 1 hour later we were back in our, to be honest, pretty lousy room with no plans for the night. I fell asleep and woke up around 02:00 to sweet tunes of hardstyle music from our portable speakers, wuu. Shower x 3 and no idea of where to go, but luckily we met an Israeli guy (with a plan) outside. Jump in a cap and drive to Hipaco nightclub, that was what we thought anyways. When we arrived it turned out to be a small festival with DJs playing loud music. Main stage pumping dance´ish tunes out over the field filled with dancing people. Two smaller tents with DJs playing electronic and something I dont remember were placed on both sides of the main stage. In between two massive cranes were parked on each side of the
main stage, each swinging loads of discolights over the crowd - pretty damn cool. We literally danced untill the sun came up, and carried on.
Weird christmas, but certainly one I will never forget.
From Mendoza to Buenos Aires and we were in a proper big city, one that could easily be placed in central europe. New years knocking on the door and once again we found ourselves without a plan for the night. At our hostel were loads of brazilians and people from around the world, all really really nice people. We paid two girls to buy food and cook dinner for us (they were cooking for others as well :>), and after celebrating danish new year, british new year and brazilian new year the time had come to Argentina. 00:00 and.. dinner was served. Nevermind, champagne was airborne and happy new year was spoken in way too many languages. By the time getting a taxi was pretty much impossible, but the hostel was packed with party-people so that was noted as a no biggie. We danced brazilian, showed them some european moves and enjoyed ourselves.
A few days spent sightseeing in Buenos Aires and we were off
to Iguazu Falls, impressive waterfalls on the Argentinian-Brazilian border. Outside temp. 35ºC, inside temp. 20ºC and humidity that felt like 110%. Two days of constant sweating, but well worth it. The views looks like taken out of a movie and are nothing less than stunning.
Three days ago we left Iguazu to go to Florianopolis where we are currently staying. Florianopolis is an island on the coastline of Brazil. A proper vacationspot; 42 beaches, bars and tourists. So far we havent seen or done much here but getting a tan is pretty much inevitable. The last two weeks of our trip are dedicated to beaches and chilling to the max. We plan on staying here for another 3-4 days, then head to Rio de Janeiro from where we fly home to cold Denmark.
Merry christmas and a happy new year to everyone!
Also love and other stuff <3
