Oi! (thats hello in Brasil)

There have been many cultural differences that we have noticed on our Quest thus far and i would like to share of few of these with you.

* Argentinian arrogance
* Mate - is the local drink of choice, it is a herbal tea, drunk out of a special cup which has a metal straw. People drink it all the time, carrying a thermos full of hot water and their special cup with them and filling it up when the need strikes. It is largely a social drink and the cup is passed around a group. It is very common to see people walking down the street with a thermos and a mate cup.
* Beer served in a glass handle is called Chopp!
* There appears to be no road rules in South America
* Inappropriate pashing - everywhere and in every country thus far.... public displays of affection are BIG here
* Men are the only waiters in restaurants (and isn´t this how is should be, men bringing us our food!)
* Jamon and Queso (Ham and Cheese) is on pretty much everything in the menu in Argentina, so is Dulce De Leche, which is another word for caramel. HINT - don´t let the Argentinians hear you call it caramel, as they take offence to it as they think that Dulce de Leche is their special creation.
* Breakfast contains many sweet things such as sweet croissants with a tub of dulce de leche and cakes to help ourselves to, as well as the standard bread roll, Jamon and Queso, sometimes fruit and always Juice - that tastes like super strong cordial
* Pollution is high in Argentina
* People spit an awful lot - its disguisting!
* Dogs are everywhere and as you can imagine so is their sh!t. We have even seen several dog walkers, one lady walking 14 dogs
* Buenos Aires has loads of parks, which i am sure would be beautiful if they had grass in them, not just dirt
* Police are standing on almost every corner and street intersection in Buenos Aires, all day and night. It does make you feel a bit safer, but doesn´t help when even the police are blowing you kisses
* I predict a high restaurant per head ratio for Buenos Aires, as they appear to have restaurants on nearly every corner
* Happy pants are making a comeback in Argentina and if you are wearing legwarmers or a scarfe, then you are in with the latest fashion trends too
* Boys and girls young and old, everyone gets a hello and goodbye kiss on both cheeks! Something we have had a bit of trouble grasping and had a few uncomfortable face to face moments.
* People speak with passion when they talk about their political climate and its history.
* Everybody seems to smoke
* They have LUXURIOUS buses in Argentina, with seats that fold back to a bed, you get served hot food, straight Johnnie Walker with ice, Champagne, Vino Tinto and Vino Blanco and as you can imagine, Abby and i tasted them all.

I hope that you are having a luffly day 😊
xx Ciao Ciao
