Help needed 2 1/2 Mths in South America

My boyfriend and I will be travelling to South America 1/2 way through October this year on our way home to Australia from our around the worl trip.

We fly into Sao Paulo. Our flight leaves for Australia on the 3rd of Jan from Santiago Chile.

I would love to hear from anyone who could suggest an itinerary for us and also if it would be viable to see Mexico as well. We both need visas for Brazil and Venzuela but I am not sure about Mexico.

Our budget will be really tight as we will have spent a few months in Europe before we get there. What would be a realistic budget to work with per day? We don't mind doing it basic.

Toward the end of our trip we are wanting to spend a good chunk of this time on a beach someone soaking up some rays before we both have to return to Australia and start working straight away. We at least need a tan to go back home with.
