Ross:
After a pleasant morning spent on our rather grotty bus we finally crested the last hill to be treated to the magnificent view of Lake Titicaca and Puno clinging to the hills that surround this end of the lake. We jumped a taxi and headed for our hotel all the while trying to deflect the endless touting of the guy that got us our taxi and then doing the same with reception guy at the hotel. We didn’t get up to much the first day as Claire was feeling pretty dodgy. Next day, Claire feeling a lot better, we left early and went to find somewhere else to stay as the hotel smelled a bit funny. We found the excellent hostel Europa, very cheap, comfy bed and a full sized whirlpool bath, unbelievable. Booked some tickets for a tour out on the lake and had a very tasty lunch and dinner in the same place. Not much excitement to report so far.
Next day Claire took a turn for the worse and was too ill to come on the lake tour, so I headed of on my own. The tour consisted of a trip out to the Uros islands (floating

some more nice views from the bus. these are between cusco and puno islands made out of reeds) and then on to the island of Taquile (a proper island this time). It was all very cool but the photos probably explain things better than I can so look at them. Managed to get the backs of my hands and the right side of my neck seriously sunburnt don’t have a clue how this happened.
The next day we headed for the bus station to catch our ride to Bolivia and La Paz. This was a bit of a debacle as when we turned up no one was at the bus company desk (damn Ormeno again) so we were left wondering what to do as the bus was due to leave in about 10 mins or so. Much wandering around and talking to strangers later we learned that the bus was running late and no one thought it was worth telling passengers this. An hour or so later than scheduled we finally left Puno on our way to a very disorganized (but very easy) border crossing. Slightly sad to be leaving Peru (again never feels as if you have enough time anywhere you go no matter how long you spend there) but excited

some more nice views from the bus. these are between cusco and puno to be on the next leg of our odyssey.
Claire:
Again, I don’t have much to say unfortunately. Bus ride was good, Lake Titicaca looked impressive. While I was feeling well enough to eat we found a nice restaurant in town and we spent some time doing blog stuff. We found a hotel with enough hot water and a whirlpool system in a bath and I was in heaven. Was too ill to join Ross on the boat tour of the lake and decided bugger it and started taking some antibiotics as I was feeling so bad. We headed off to La Paz the next day, me feeling much better on my high power drugs.
