Yes, I got kicked out of the hotel that I was staying in for the past few days. The same one with the porn in the rooms. No, it's not because of anything I did. Or was it? Apparently, they booked the place full and had no rooms left for friendly Asians like myself. Oh well, the place was a bit on the dumpy side. The first room I had a few blood stains in the sheets. Another one had some stains of an unknown variety. Altogether I had 3 different rooms in 4 nights there. Sadly, the last one was the cleanest. I actually sprung $7 for a clean bed sheet to use there. Oh well, the place I'm at now is actually really nice. The bathroom has an odd avocado green color, but at least my bed has no unusual colors.
I am now splurging on rather expensive meals. Well, by Peruvian standards of course. For example, just an hour ago, I had a kind of variety of Peruvian-influenced sushi called tiradito. It was raw salmon with some sesame-based sauce. It was so damn delicious. They also serve a pretty mean mojito. A lot of the traditional meals
I have had so far in Peru cost less than $2, and it includes a starter (usually soup for me, but there were other appetizers) and the main course.
So now I am winding down my trip and will be back in the States in a few days. I have also been pretty much been done with the whole tourist thing. Today I went to a really swanky shopping center that overlooks the ocean. The most decidedly untouristy thing I did was to see Brad Pitt, George Clooney, and Matt Damon. Yes, I saw Ocean's 13 in a theater. The theater was fairly nice, but the screen was a bit on the small side, like a third of a normal screen. The shopping center had a Hooter's, which I did not visit, a Tony Roma's, and some other chain restaurants.
Well, I´m getting to point now that I am actually beginning to miss home. Don't get me wrong, Lima is one the best cities have been to so far. 3 weeks away from home, though, is a bit long. Of course, 3 weeks after I get home, I will long for another trip elsewhere. Perhaps Colombia next year. There was this Colombian couple on one the tours I took, and this girl was simply gorgeous. Her husband or boyfriend was pretty-boy model type, so I suppose they made a good couple. Though, it would've been a better couple with me in the picture attached to her.
Okay, I digress like I tend to do. I think there is a celebration for Peru's independence day. They go crazy here for their independence day. Seriously every other building and house has a Peruvian flag flying on top. And they've had various celebrations and parades for the past couple of weeks or so. And the actual day of independence isn't until later this week. So tomorrow I may check out a huge celebration going on downtown.
