After our careful and thoughtful preparation, we awoke at 4.30am on the 12th December fresh faced and enthusiastic for the inca trail. Despite that it rained every day and we had to put on wet clothes every morning - we still had an amazing time. The infamous day 2 was a "piece of cookie" (to quote our guide) - but we would say that cause we hired porters to carry our rucksacks! Luckily the sun came out on our last day so we were able to enjoy Machu Picchu. Determined to soak our aching muscles in the hot springs of Aguas Calientes we persevered in the rain and enjoyed a medicinal bath.
