Our completed sea frieze
It has pride of place on the wall. My ambition is to have something on every wall before I finish there next week! Hi Folks,
As I said in yesterday´s blog, I had the most amazing sleep!! Woke up feeling reallay refreshed and raring to go at Wawa Wasi. Still struggling with my horrible cold, but hope to get shot of that at the weekend!!
We had our full compliment of ninos again at WW. Started off playing with the toys again, and then had a lovely surprise just before they had their milk. We received a big soft chute and steps for kids in bright primary colours. Apparently it´s doing the rounds of the WWs and they each have it for three days!! The kids thought it was Christmas and went wild!! Photos attached will show just how much they enjoyed it. Tried to teach them how to line up and give everyone a shot one at a time. The worst offenders were Andrea and Anna who just barged their way to the front of the queue. It´s difficult with Andrea as she runs to Julia any time I tell her off. They all managed to have a go though and had a great time in the process.
Had a bit if a disaster with Rufina today - three accidents
Rufina
This is one of my favourite photos!! in total and all of them on me!! She´s usually quite good at saying ´Pische´ but was maybe too excited today with all the other distractions!! Does anyone know if it´s good for the skin? Will I have nice smooth skin on my thighs as a result?
When I took Rufina through to the back area to rectify the damage, I spotted Ernesto, Giovanni and Elias all doing their business and watering the garden. The really funny thing for me was that they were aiming for Julia´s hens and had them running amock squawking all over the back garden. I couldn´t move for laughing and it was really hard for me to give them a row. I guess boys will be boys!!!! I don´t have any photos of it - you´ll just need to use your imagination!!!
Got a couple of really good photos of Rufina today. She was in her element when all the kids were on the slide as they had to take off their shoes. She spent ages trying on everyone else´s shoes, and I caught her in the act on my camera. Her nickname should definitely be Imelda Marcos!! She also posed beautifully for
New Toys
This was great for the kids! me at one point - think it´s one of my favourite photos - so natural.
After the slide we did some colouring and then moved on to Playdough. Hasn´t taken Anna long yo settle in - she´s actually quite determined and bossy. She doesn´t like to hear the word ´No´. I´m sure she´ll be sick given the amount of Playdough she´s eaten!!
After Wawa Wasi I headed home for lunch and a lukewarm shower - an improvement on the last couple of days. Chilled for a bit afterwards, caught up on some reading and wrote some cards.
Had arranged to meet Vicki to head into town at 3pm. I wanted to post my cards and pick up a few things I needed. We left the house and came out into a sandstorm!! The wind was incredibly high and Ayacucho is very dusty - the majority of the streets are not paved. It was like sand boarding again without throwing myself down a sand dune!! We made it to the market and then all the electricity cut out. The rain had started by then, so we decided to head home - will just need to post my cards
Chaos ensued!!
As you can see............ tomorrow!! We were without electric for just short of an hour. Little to do when that happens except lie on your bunk and catch up on some reading or letter writing.
Sile is leaving first thing tomorrow morning. She´s only been here two weeks, but we´ll miss her. Looking forward to a trip to Belfast to catch up with her when I get home. The UK contingent are all chatting about getting together to meet up when we get back home. The last to leave will be Vicki who is here until the beginning of February.
Eight of us (Rick, Vicki, Katherine, Wendy, Illona, Caroline, Sile and myself) all headed out for dinner to bid Sile a fond farewell. We headed to Ninos again where I had a huge plate of spaghetti al pesto -delicious!! The others all had pizza, but I fancied something different. Ninos only had three desserts on offer - none of which appealed, so we headed to the Gringo Plaza in town for a wee apperitif!!
Sile amazed us all by ordering ice cream (photo attached) as it was pretty cold after the storm. We were all pretty chilled sitting in the square.
Even more chaos!!
They didn´t quite get the concept of ´one at a time´!! I had on three layers of clothes!!
Karen, Alison and Shirley - have discovered an amazing new tipple which is a definite must for the ski holiday in April - hot chocolate with a shot of Baileys added!! Really heated me up on a cold night and will be perfect in France. After a few of those, Karen might even be persuaded to try a black run!!
Received an e-mail from Fiona in response to a text message I had successfully sent her. Appears that some of my e-mails are still not getting through. Just want to let you all know that I reply to every single e-mail I receive, so apologies if they haven´t made it through to you. Know for definite that e-mails I sent to Sandra and Lizzie weren´t successful. Think I might also have had problems with some to Joan and Jo. Apologies!! They all show in my sent items box as having been successfully sent!! Please keep the e-mails coming even if my replies don´t get through - it´s great to hear all the news from home and keeps me going!!
To all my Church friends, re the money that was collected
Imelda Marcos!
Rufina had a ball with the shoes that had all been abandoned by the others to play on the slide!! before I left (105 pounds in total). I haven´t paid it to CCS as yet. Thinking about seeing if I can purchase some more toys for WW like the one in the photo (it would be rotated around lots of WWs and lots of kids would get pleasure from it) and possibly an additional coloured TV or ome DVDs for the boys orphanage (Urpi). Would be interested to know what you think?? If anyone else is at all interested in contributing further, please drop me a note and I´ll increase the contributions and collect it from you when I get home.
Hope you all have a great weekend. I´m looking forward to relaxing and nursing my cold!!
Take care!

hi Lesley. vicki had sent me the link to your blog so I have logged on and read some of your latest postings. I must say that you have written mors than I had imagined and the photos do add to the impact. Just a shame you were so overcome at the sight of panicking chickens to take a photo. Little boys are the same the world over I guess. Looks like the slide was a great success, even if Imelda had better things to do with her time!
