Hola mes amigos!!

Happy Halloween to you all!! Was thinking about the Halloween party I had last year. It was a great laugh!! Needless to say, no requirement for me to dress up this year!!

Had our Halloween party at Wawa Wasi. Attached are various photos. The first is the halloween pumpkins I bought and filled up with sweets (exceptionally healthy things like choc raisins etc). They are lined up at the bottom of my (bottom) bunk. I think they look great!! Also attached is a (fairly dark) photo of the paper chains we made and the pumpkins lined up on the WW window sill, and a photo of the kids at breakfast.

I also managed to take a photo of our amazing multi coloured tree frieze and the kids working on it. There´s also another of a ´witch´ masterpiece which I sketched for them yesterday and they coloured in with paints. You´ll note that the witch has yellow hair, which probably means she´s a gringa!!

After work yesterday, we went to Santa Anna in Ayacucho, where they make fabulous alabaster ornaments and tapestries. Attached is a photo of the alabaster master at work, and some of

his products, and also a tapestry which depicts the history of Ayacucho.

Afterwards we headed back to base for dinner and (thankfully or luckily!!) a hot shower. During dinner, I was told that there was someone at the door for me. It was my Wawa Wasi family (Julia and her kids) with her neighbour (Marruja who is Eileen´s WW mama) with her kids. They had come especially to trick or treat us which I thought was really nice of them. Also attached is a photo of Merisol (one of the CCS staff in Ayacucho) with her son who was dressed up as Darth Vader - scary!!

There was a procession of Churches in the town yesterday afternoon. They were all holding placards with verses from the Bible. I understand that this was to show that they do not agree with Halloween. A wander into town last night resulted in seeing lots of kids dressed for Halloween, mainly out with their parents. Was fun to see all the costumes.

One of the Churches in town was holding an anniversary celebration last night. There was a band, dancing and fireworks. The fireworks were spectacular, although would never have passed

health and safety requirements at home - but hey - this is Peru!!

Had a fairly early night and a great sleep which was good. Have a day off today as it´s a National Holiday for All Saints Day. There is a procession in town which I´m off to see at 10am, and then we´re going to visit the cemetary to observe some of the local traditions there. After that, I´m off to work in the Girls Orphanage for the afternoon, which will be nice. Back to Wawa tomorrow, and need to organise a few activities for them this evening.

Agree with Cmpbell´s comment that Vicki does indeed look a bit like Cat - never really thought about it before. Nice compliment to both of them!! Audit team - you are NOT allowed to use Vicki´s photo as a lookalike in Oddity without her express permission!!!!!

Anyway - take care and keep in touch!!
