During my first few years back in Ecuador I spent 3-4 months a year at my cabana on the coast, but once I decided to sell that property I boxed up all my possessions. I first came to Ecuador in the late 1980's to teach English in Quito. I fell in love with this country, the natural beauty, the warmth and generosity of the people. Tree Tomatoes

Tomate de Arbol makes delicious juice - fresh from the garden whenever I want!

Mandarinas!

The back yard is home to three dozen tangerine trees -- the juice is labor intensive but oh so yummy!

Cucarda Flowers

The bright pink hibiscus blossoms in my garden have yellow and orange streaks on their undersides.

Cartuchos

Calla Lilies are called "Cartridges" in Spanish. They bloom in several places in my garden.

Guava Tree

Gotta park as far away as possible or my truck get filled with guava goo!

Puyo Market

Secondhand baby dolls and old suitcases are sold alongside the fruits and vegetables.

Glad you have your own place, Jill. I retired about two weeks ago, and we have consolidated homes here in Turkey. I know what you mean about having two of everything! I'm still getting rid of stuff and will be for months to come. Life is good. I think we are going to love being at the goat village (that is developing too quickly for our tastes!) full time now.
