Getting ready
it was actually pretty fun watching the hustle of everyone getting ready for the chorus competition. Everyone was running around and crowding the mirrors at the hostel we were staying at... I went on a trip to Santiago with the chorus for a competition (and noooo i certainly wasnt singing... Cata is in chorus and they let me come along cause I have special exchange student privilages! also my parents owning the school may have something to do with that). however unfortunately, in a fit of extreme brilliance i brought the charger for my camera battery but not the converter... so i was unable to charge it... thus here are the pictures of the trip until my camera ran out of battery. I will get some from the rest of the trip from Cata, and Mamá and post them soon...!
The hostel we stayed at was an interesting experience... and a cold one. There were about ten beds in the room i was staying in- mostly bunk beds and there was no heating. It was very very cold, I slept in my pjs, two sweatshirts and a hat. I also used both the blankets from my bed and all the blankets from an unoccupied bed! and then the showers... ohhh the showers. I have never seen a shower so tiny! and I have also never taken a shower so cold! fortunately
the second day i had some hot water for a little while, but by hot i mean somewhere near the temperature your skin melts off your body at.... there wasnt really any temperature between scalding and ice. On a happier and more interesting note, there were a couple guys from Haiti working at the hostel that spoke english, and i talked to one for a little while which was pretty interesting.

spiral building
There's one of those spiral buildings in Serena, too, though it's not as pretty and sparkly...
