How was social class started in Brazil?

http://countrystudies.us/brazil/30.htm

Social class was started in Brazil from the time they were freed and became independent. Brazil was split into an obvious class system because of the per capita income of 4,086 in 1955. When the classes were split up the farmers were the lowest population and were also the biggest population. They were divided into poor, middle class, and high class. The class they fit into depended on income as well as things like if they had gone to school and what kind of job they do.

After Brazil was an independent country they quickly divided into classes. They seperated each other based on income and other circumstances. This proves they were advanced enough to have a type of currency and a potential form of gov. This is what they built the country off of. Also, Brazil had to have other jobs besides farming. This is what led to the class division that exists there today.
