Source: http://www.brazil.org.za/religion.html#.UkUKFNJJOh4

In the country of Brazil there are many religions. For example, there are Catholic, Protestant, Methodist, Episcopal, Pentecostal, Lutheran, and Baptist. Brazil is a very religious country, with 90 percent of its population believing in some religion making it ma highly religion based country in all of South America. However, there is only one dominant religion that takes up most of Brazil. Catholicism is the most dominant religion in all of Brazil.

European settlers brought Catholicism with them to Brazil when they settled there. Churches were built and religious leaders were brought with when they migrated to Brazil. In the 19th century Catholicism became the official religion of Brazil. The difference between Christianity and Catholicism is that in Christianity the bible is where God speaks to us and directs us how to live. Catholicism also believes that but also through what the Catholic Church and Pope tell them.
