Barra da Lagoa
Beautiful beaches Brazil - 3 or 4 Months
Brazil was another country which I visited on many occasions, in fact I think I went to the country 4 times, spending 3 or 4 months there in total.
For the first few visits See my "Iquitos to Rio" blog The
third time I visited Brazil I entered from Uruguay, with two Friends I was traveling with. We came from Cabo Polonio and hopped along the coast of Brazil stopping in Porto Alegre very briefly and then Barra da Lagoa, a nice town on the island of Florianópolis, sandwiched between two national parks. Here we spent almost 2 weeks, drinking and socialising before heading to the waterfalls at Foz do Iguazu so that I could take my second look at this fantastic location.
From Barra da Lagoa I also visited the hospital in a diabetic medical emergency, I don't remember the 45 minute ambulance journey that went speeding over speed-bumps that made me and a friend, Katia, hit the roof.
Whilst in Foz do Iguazu we joined in some carnival fun and almost got mugged by 6 lads trying their luck, but lucky for
Barra da Lagoa
Sandwiched between 2 national parks us there were police very close who chased them away.
From Foz do Iguazu I entered Paraguay and continued traveling North towards Bolivia The
Fourth Time I visited Brazil for just a week, returning after Colombia, to spend my birthday in Florianopolis with Katia. We drove to Paranagua and then took a boat to the lovely
ilha da Mel (honey island) to stay a few nights and even used a speedboat to look at the beautiful marine parks in the area.
I used the oppotunity in Florianópolis to eat my Brazilian corn flakes.
Then I went back to Buenos Aires to fly back to the UK

My boyfriend, Eric, had mentioned your post from Senegal to me, because I've always wanted to go there, and I came across your latest post. What most caught my eye was actually that you're a diabetic? So is Eric, but he just got diagnosed after we returned from South America. He's slightly concerned about what our future travels will be like, having to monitor everything so closely. If you have any advice or tips you could give him I know that he would be SO grateful, as would I! Enjoy the rest of your time in Brazil. We miss it so much! Plus, if you're heading to Peru or Bolivia, we're actually giving away a free night on our blog. If you have the time, check it out at dirty-hippies.blogspot.com, or email us at dirtyhippiesblog@gmail.com. Thanks and continued fun! Heather :)
