Fun in Rio

Hi All

Thought it best to send last update before favela visit tomorrow ;-).

Last couple of days have been pretty full on - so much to see & do in Rio ! In summary have visited one of the modern wonders of the world (giant art deco Christ statue), browsed colourful Brazilian modern art, discovered lots of plants and a couple of lizards at Jardim Botanico and sweated lots (its 30+ at the moment !) on a climb through the jungle to some great views.

Finally see photos for Christmas Brazilian style - huge illuminated tree in middle of lake quite mesmerising !

Think this is Heliconia rostrata, a relative of the banana. The leaves are very banana like.
