The last days.... : (
This was my last couple of days of my 8 months of travelling! I´m looking forward to get home, but I had such a great time and I have done some much stuff the last months, so I´m in a good travel mood at the moment. Guess I have to start planning my next travel right away, to make up for the loss I gonna feel ; )
I came back from Ilha Grande on friday and booked in to another hostel than last sunday. Ipanema Beach House was a bit more expensive, but totally worth it! The atmosphere was good here and we ended up being around three taxies going to the famous Lapa district to check out the night life. I also met up with a friend from Galapagos, Pedro, who lives in Rio. We found a club with live music, one singer backed up by around ten drummers! I never heard that combination before, but the rythms and singing was great! And watching some of the locals dance samba (I guess) was even better.
In Lapa there is people everywhere, especially on friday nights which normally is the best day. The streets
are filled up with people, beggers, sellers (of alcohol, fast food and other stuff)
I spend a day on the beach of course, but managed to get a cold.... It's stupid to go on the beach anyway, it's winter down there now!! ; )
Favella Rochina
The last day, before my flight back home, I joined a tour to the favella Rochina. This was one of the more developed favellas in Rio, and some of the area actually reminded me about city's in Bolivia.... Except it was a bit more crowded here I guess. Brasil was the far most expensive country I visited on my trip, but its obvious that the money is placed in a few peoples hands. The majority of the population is still really poor or live with a minimum of fasilities.
Because of the drug dealers we couldn't take pictures everywhere. But regardless all the dealers, the favellas was not that affected. Of course people hear use it, but I think most of the drug is sold to the richer parts of Rio.
Going home....
After the visit I had my lunch in the hostel and took a taxi to the airport. I
was on my way home......
I've actually been home for a week now, but a lot of stuff is going on so I haven't had time to update the last entry. It's a bit strange to be back, but I think I gonna get used to the busy life back home pretty quikly.
Thanks for following my travel, hope you enjoyed at least some of the blogs ; )
