We left Manaus and the afternoon and arrived in Rio at night. We had a driver pick us up and we went straight to my grandma's house. Then we went to bed. My daddy left with Al to go the Gehlmans house because they were going to watch Ecuador v France. When they were there I stayed at my Grandma's house and Mariana babysat, We played on the computer together and stayed up until 2 in the morning. Finally we went to bed to sleep.
The next morning I watched the USA v Germany game. My daddy was with Al at the Fanfest. USA lost but the played really good. I thought that they were going home since they lost but then my dad called and he said that USA was not going home because of goals differential. I was pretty confused but slightly happy. Daddy was really happy.
So when my dad and Al came back, we went to a restaurant called Barra Brasa. It is a restaurant that the waiters keep coming to your table with meat and carve it right in front of you. You can eat as much as you want. There was also a
salad bar. After we ate, Mariana took me to their playground/arcade next to it.
The next day I finally got to go to the Gehlmans. I was really excited because they used to go to my school, but never told me that they moved to Brasil. When we got to their house, Isabelle the younger one was standing outside their door with their puppy. We were so excited to see each other again. I also saw her older sister Emily. We traded soccer stickers.

Then we went to hike up sugar loaf, well actually the smaller the one (Morro da Urca). It was a beautiful climb. When I was talking to Isabelle and Emily we were walking very slow. We saw a bunch of monkeys and climbed in the trees. When we got on top we had a beautiful view of the Christ and the beaches. There was a small mall at the top and we had milkshakes and ice cream. We then climbed all the way down and stopped at the tree again to climb it. We also stopped at little hill and pretended to meditate.
The next stop was a snack at a cool place on the water (Urca). We saw a dog swimming which was pretty funny. Then we went to parque de bola. First, I went with Emily and Isabelle where we were the players in foosbal. It was confusing though. Then we went to this thing that had a bungee cord tied to our back and we had to race to get the soccer ball. Then we went to a cool history soccer museum and we saw Pele's uniform. On the ceiling where these cool bobble head drawings of the players that play today. There were rooms with quizzes, video games and dress up. There was also tvs with documentaries about a lot of stuff about soccer.
Then we went out for dinner at this cool outdoor place. The kids had pizza and the adults had sushi. Then me and my dad went home.
Then it was our last full day in Brasil. We took Mariana to the Gehlmans now. We stayed there for a little bit and then went to an Italian restaurant on Copacabana next to the Fanfest to watch the Brasil v Chile game. It was pretty
good food, and even a better game. It was 1:1 and then went into overtime. Nobody scored in overtime. At that moment things got crazy. We had to leave to take the train to the Uruguay v Colombia game, so we decided to watch it on the streets for a little bit on the way to the train station. We were watching form a small TV in a small bar. There were lots of people watching with us. Julio Ceaser was awesome and saved 2 penalty picks. Brasil Won!!!! We ran fast to the subway with lots of other people who were going to the game.

At the game in Maracana, we were cheering for Columbia because when Uruguay was playing Italy, Italy lost. Me no likey when Italy loses and Suarez bit one of the Italian players and did not get a card and they scored on that play. Like who does that? It was no even his first time trying to eat somebody. Colombia won 2x0. I was happy. Uruguay deserved to lose. We said goodbye to Al because he was going to the Gehlmans and we tried to
find a taxi. It was so hard and we kept going in circles so we gave up and we took the subway. It was pretty cool on the subway because the Colombians were shouting and singing. They even sung a song that Shakira plays better than Neymar, and that made me pretty mad.
I wish we could stay longer, but I stayed the longest - 3 1/2 weeks. It was so awesome being at the world cup and watching the games instead of in South Africa when I slept through them. The next world cup is in Russia, and I will be 13 and I would love to go - Sofia

Daddy's Comments:
As Sofia had quite a lot to say, will just add a little. It was so great for Sofia to reconnect with Isabelle after a few years after not seeing each other and I really had not known Leticia and Jon. It was awesome to get to know them and wish we had more time with them. What a blast, and I look forward to seeing them in Miami sometime soon. The experience of watching Brasil v Chile
Me, Mariana, Emily and Isabelle
On the bus to Copacabana to watch Brasil v Chile in Copacabana was quite an experience as we watched the penalty kicks from the street on the way to the Colombia v Uruguay game. Great game to see James Rodriguez make a big name for himself. Beautiful day hiking Morra da Urca and drinks afterwards at Urca with Leticia, Al, Sofia, Isabelle, and Emily. Wonderful spending more time with Mariana. It was even really cool when we had our stopover at Panama City and caught the exciting end of the Costa Rica v Greece game. Sofia was classic at the end of the video...
We had a blast in Brasil for the world cup, from being with family and with old friends as well as making new ones to the excitement surrounding all the games.....both Sofia and I look forward to Russia in 2018.....
