Buzios is a small town 3 hours east of rio de janeiro. It is a small, posh town with with over 17 beaches. The water is always warm, there is good surf and lots of brazillians go there during their holidays. When I visited, it was quite and not much happening at night or during the day due to the fact that it was the weekday and no one was on holiday. due to the off season, things were half the price. we stayed at this nice posuada, which is like a hotel with breakfast included for 25 reals a night. I travelled with my friend mira, a german girl i met on the bus to rio. she has been volunteering in a favella in the south of brazil for 5 months.
on the second day, mira and I rented a yellow buggy to explore the beaches. we were the talk of the town. mira brought her ipod speakers and we spent the entire day going to different beaches, blasting music and frequently having the buggy break down. we probably spent half of the time of our cruising trying to get the buggy to start. at the end of our day,
surfing
the beaches are perfect!!! we headed toward the center of town to have dinner. while there, we had all these locals come up to us and say they saw us driving.. blah ...blah...blah.. and they all tried to speak english with us and bought us drinks. it was cool.
the next day we rented surf boards and headed out. ate french crepes at night and cried as germany got defeated. after lounging around for 3 days, we packed up and headed back to rio. we stopped halfway at a town called saquarema which is famous for holding an annual surfing contest every october.

Hi, I am catching up with your blog. Your pictures are very good, like the way you manage to get your mug into them. Most people forget about pictures of themselves--good touch! This side trip sounded like one of the best.
