Few days before the year ended we arrived to Bolivia, still trapped on the shore of Titicaca Lake we decided to visit Sun Island which everyone recommended us. We first visited the south part because we wanted to go to the new years eve party but we didn´t go finally, we celebrated it the day before in Copacabana, a bit earlier. A couple of days after we went to the north part of the island which is much more beautiful, it has few nice beaches and you can also walk trhough a path
that take you to the ruins of Tiwanaco culture. From up there the views are spectacular.
It was time to say goodbye to Titicaca Lake where we spent three unforgettable weeks. We headed to La Paz, crazy town, lots of people,
very steep streets, witchcraft markets, artscraft. La Paz is 3.650msnm. From La Paz we went to a little town called Sorata, three hours from the city and surrounded by nature. In Sorata we met Jimena, a really friendly girl from La Paz, we shared room with her and went to a cave three hours walking from the town. If you want to visit other places you need to go back to La Paz, this is what we did to then go to Coroico. Coroico is the capaital of the North Yungas wich is the door to the jungle, amazonic jungle of Bolivia, the climate is warm and humid and the landscape is all green, trees, lots of diferents flowers, fruits trees like mangos, lemon, banana, cofee trees as well.
In places like Coroico where is warm and sunny people seem happier, the population is formed by aymaras, afrobolivian, mixed race and some foreigners that stayed to live there. In this time of the year is full of argentinians, also Juan and me, the two spanish ones. From Coroico you can walk around trhough the paths to visit nice places, waterfalls, just to see the spectacular views but some of the places are better to visit with a guide. The best place we visited was Rio Negro, 9km, three hours walking downhill, very pleasant walk to get to the river. Then you had to cross it, the power of the water makes you feel like you can´t move your legs or that you are 90 years old. After
few minutes walking through the shore you get to the paradise, a natural pond created by a beautiful cascade.
