I am sure I have the dates wrong, should check my passport. Anyway, took the train from the Argentina border to Uyuni. There was a definite change once we crossed the border. At the border there were hundreds of Bolivians carrying huge bags on there backs across the border like ants. the train trip was uneventful, the scenery was nice but it became dark shortly after the train departed. The Train arrived in uyuni about 3 am, and it was cold. Even though it isn't too far from the equator, it is on the Altiplano, the Himalayans of the western hemisphere. Spent a cold night, hard to breath, and woke to a sunny cold day. went around to book a trip for the solar tour and ended up booking with a British couple and a coule from Spain and Britain. The tour was great, we had a great guide, fidel i think. he did everything, drove, cooked, cleaned, repaired the vehicle. the first day we had a flat tire and he changed the tire and pumped it up with a hand pump!!! the food was good, llama the first night. We went as high as 15000 feet (i think). One night
while playing cards, the girls let out a fear of death cry. I spun around to grab the attacker only to find the family llama starring at us. Only in Bolivia. When we arrived back in Uyuni, we had pizza at the best pizza place outside of the Quonset hut and canales, minute man pizza run by an expat Chris. The only reason to stay in uyuni is to do the tour and eat at minuteman pizza
