in centrasl square of Sucre - protesting about where the government seat should be
Leaving early 07:30 on a minibus we (16 of us) made our way to the airport in La Paz. Oh what a familiar place this airport is now. we flew to sucre where a minibus transfer was waiting for us along with our new tour leader, Martin. He is a German tour guide who speaks excellent spanish and english. our group is a little bigger than i expected and all females except two fellas. all are much younger than us. oh well.

we arrived at lunchtime. to a city angry with demonstrations and marches taking over the streets. this went on all day and nite - quite exciting actually. they are protesting against the seat of government being in La Paz, wanting it in Sucre !!! all very strange and noisy. loads of firecrackers and fireworks being let off in the street and things being set fire to. there is a distinct lack of police presence but apparently this is because if they get involved itll all get quite nasty very quickly.

we are unable to go on the city tour or visit some amazing dinosaur footprints due to riots. we kicked around town and visited an Indigenous people art/textile museum which was very cool. we got sucked in watching a lady weaving, i just couldnĀ“t work it out. seriously advanced loom techniques on the simplest loom ever. amazing

ate mexican and arranged to go horse riding to a waterfall and pools tomorrow where we can chill out and have a bbq
