Day 18 – Bariloche – 10 January 2015 A long drive of 400 kms exiting Chile and crossing the border into Argentina. At the Argentinian border their customs decided to do random checks so the back locker had to be unloaded. We then continued to Bariloche where we are staying in the Hostel Alaska for two nights. On the way we stop for lunch and to shop at El Bolson a lively town with a colourful market.
Group meal tonight at the El Boliche restaurant. The steaks and side portions are so large it is advised that you share. Penny, Tom and I share a 500 gm tenderloin steak, a whole boned chicken, side salad and French fries. So much we could have had a fourth person share. Cooked medium rare the steak so tender it melted in your mouth, chicken was moist and tasty. Cost 140 Argentina pesos each – approx. £12. Tom and I shared a bottled of good Argentinian wine at 110 AR pesos – approx. £9 a bottle. We could not get through it all and took the chicken back to the hostel for tomorrow’s lunch. Best steak I have ever tasted, roll on the
three nights stay at an Argentinian Estancia on the next leg!
Day 19 - Bariloche – 11 January 2015 Free day, so did do much – a chill out day catching up with my journal and enjoying the sunshine.
Crossing the border back into Chile tomorrow.
