A BOUNTY OF RESTAURANTS
They love their king crab! Brrrr!!! 6 degrees here today. Thanks to everyone who sent birthday wishes on Facebook and by email - I felt very special hearing from everyone and had a great day exploring the area of Ushuaia.Fine day here apparently, weatherise, it is known to blow gales here but not windy at all. It is known as the "Siberia of Argentina" - very remote but beautiful! Once a penal colony now a thriving travel gem with a population of 70,000. Got a private guide just John and I and he took as out to the "End of the World Highway" the termination of the Pan American Highway - you will see it is 17, 848 kilometres from Alaska to this point - Marky! it's a long way - but its on the bucket list! The trip took us about 40 klms out of Ushuaia. Very cute city Ushuaia - lots of tourists here - hiking, boating, lots of hostels and hotels, so it must be a very popular place to visit. TheTierra del Fuego National Park is lovely - though it was a bit overcast most of the day - rugged mountains, pristine lakes and forests of the Andes - then the shores

Two other ships in port - ours towers over the other two! of the Beagle Channel draped with glaciers - don't know if we will make the glaciers on the way out before dark as there has been a medical evacuation - then they sent an under equipped Ambulance so we had to wait for another - over an hour leaving! Stocked up on more beer and wine before boarding again for Punta Arenas, Chile tomorrow. Had a magnificent dinner in the Crown Grill, Prawns, Lobster, steak - great wine too!! and complimentary champers! Window table with a magnificent view of the Patagonian wilderness and some glaciers as well - what more could I ask for!
