trains
the trains we slept in Today is.......I dont know, and thats really nice actually. Finally me and Pil have found somewhere to chill out for a few days, and last night we had our first night out on the town here in argentina......kind of......we are here in the beautifull town of Salta, surrounded by huge mountains which the clouds hug onto and cable cars run to the top of.
Getting to Salta is a story of its own, it was crazy.
We spent three days in the natural paradise i wrote of, we ended up staying in the most expensive place in town because we only had our cards and they were the only place that would take them. It had a pool and huge gardens and our room had its own bathroom and we were served three vegetarian meals a day...... it felt a little strange being served like that but it was nice actually to try something posh like this! Around the house were dirt roads with cows walking by and goats, and pigs , and beautifull birds of every description making noises, swooping or just sitting on branches.......the roads were more sand than dirt and animals were just grazing free everywhere! Pelligrini
more trains
more trains! is next to a big lagoon and part of our deal with the guest house was that they took us on walks aroudn the reserve and two boat trips around the lagoon, lake ....... i think it was. There are a couple of pictures on my last entry of the amazing things out there....... Aligators, armidillos, and giant pig type rat things........ i cant give a better description.. All the time our guide is telling us about the things in his spanish and we are nodding and searching for the beautifull creatures in the long reeds.....spiders and .......well so much beauty, it makes me so sad we have destroyed so much in this world, imagine a world before..... but i guess maybe i would not be here if this was the case.
On the last night our guide took us a walk under the full moon and we saw foxes too!!
The last night we didnt stay in our bed, we packed our stuff really quickly and took a night taxi bus ride to mercedes, which I didnt sleep a bit on, the road being so bumpy.
Around half way we realised that Rex our loyal yellow travel companion
sam in a train
as it says haha was no longer hanging on to the side of the bag i had securely fastened him to! its up for debate but maybe scruff kicked him off or maybe he just had enough of us!
Needless to say when we arrived in mercedes we were in a panic! Rex must be three hours back down the dirt track and there were only one bus a day there and.........we were meant to be moving to salta! At first i nearlly cry then i get so frustrated and i know we can t leave rex!! So we finally get through a number to the hostel and they say they will look for him, which they did! and to cut a long story short we lost the whole day to waiting for rex to get his own little bus back to us! Such a nice guy at the hostel who did this for us! we were so happy to have rex back and have a bus to catch at 1am in the morning to corrientes........which we would then find a bus STRAIGHT AWAY to salta.
No such luck
5am in the morning we arrive at corrientes and we find, that there is
beautifull pictures
pil took them all as i slept! no bus to Salta until the end of the day. Working on around three hours sleep in over 24 hours pil and I are getting a bit frustrated....... I know the only sollution is to sleep and wait for the bus, and pil had a brain wave. Being that the railway tracks were behind the bus station and as ive mentioned argentina decided to let their railways rust, we found an abanonded train carriage, snuck in that and hid from the sun and the world until mid afternoon!
It was so beautifull, so rustic, and too it is so sad to see what would be so great for people to use! I never thought about how amazing railways are, and how they can connect people....and also with such a big country it would be so special to have a railway network dug up from the grass!
Finally after a 12 hour bus ride we arrive in salta, and salta is beautifull, salta is full of tourists, salta has huge mountains to climb, salta is chilled, salta has a market every day, salta has cheap pizza. I like it here we are just relaxing in this nice hippy place with
tree from a cracked window
the sun reflected off the crack on the way to salta! a place to put the tent and very cheap, guitar, and music and if you really wanted.......some films! ha! so after all this running around its so good just to say! We dont care what we are doing, we just relax, and i find my fingers running over strings and let my self slip away again on the guitar!
tonight we shall rent bikes and i will try and beat a mountain, and tommorow we head to Mendoza to meet sophie for a couple of days!
I hope everyone is happy
much love
