Puerto Iguazu
Devils Throat Hola from Argentina!
Well lets see,we left Foz in Brazil and crossed over the border to Puerto Iguazu. I must say what a simple border crossing it was none of this walking for miles in no mans land between immigrations as we did in Asia, you just get on a bus and off to get your passport stamped, lovely and stress free for me!
We stayed at a hostel called Hostel Inn its inbetween the falls and the town. It was like a mini resort in Spain, the pool was amazing and there was 2 bars and a restaurant,it was pretty cool. Needless to say we didnt get to use the pool much due to the high rainfall ahhhh!! However Martyn did get a game of football, they have activities on all the time, so he got to get rid of some energy!
The day we picked to go to the Argentina side of the falls was actually the one sunny day we have had in Argentina so that was good! We had heard how much better the falls were from this side so we were looking forward to it. We were not disapointed,it was really breathtaking and wet! You get
much closer on this side and just standing at The Devils Throat area you were soaking! We also got a boat ride right down in amongst the falls and oh my god it was like taking a shower in them it was so so cool but were so wet! Really enjoyed this side but glad we did both sides because getting to see the panormaic overview from the Brazilian side was so good aswell.
Other than the falls we had a pretty quiet time, reading and eating a lot,oh dear!! So we got the overnight bus down to Buenos Aires on Thurs night arriving on Fri lunchtime,we are getting good at these think we both slept from 10pm to 9am!
Got to our hostel here easily, staying in San Telmo which is about a 15 min walk from the center. Went out exploring straight away and needless to say I got us lost straight away,so much so that Martyn is now in charge of all maps and directions and I am to have no input what so ever, oops! Anyway once we were back on track it was just fine!! First night we just had to go out and
get some steak,so off we went no real idea where to go or really what to order. Found a lovely place not far from the hostel, had 2 HUGE lovely steaks just done perfectly with a gorgeous mustard sauce, yummy! (Im not sure it waswhat we had ordered but hey it was lovely!)Martyn had a couple of beers and I had water, all about 15 pound it was perfect but thats the splashing out over with!!
So the next day we headed off on a City Tour that the hostel ogranised,we are not usually fans of these organised trips but thought we would give it a try just to see where everything is. Turned out to be really good and the highlight of course was Martyn got to visit Bombonera, the staduim of Boca Juniors. I of course was also very excited about seeing another staduim! There was a statue of Diego Maradona which was pretty cool. The staduim itself looked pretty small after the Maracana! It holds 50,000 so not actually that small!! We also got shown all the different neighbourhoods and got to stop in La Boca itself which was really cool. Goodway to see the sights in one go.
Last night we ventured out for a few drinks, been in detox since Foz! On the way back to the hostel we found a chinese and got 2 chicken Chow Meins for under 3pound and they were yummy! Really we have to stop eating so much!!
Having a lazy day today, had a long lie then got up and took a stroll for breakfast, its not actually raining today just very dull I have forgotten what the sun is!! Loving Buenos Aires so far its great so laid back so much to see and do and the food is so so good!!
Were off to Uruguay tommorrow for a week or so, the weather forceast over there is not much better which sucks I was looking forward to a week on the beach!! Coming back to Buenos Aires afterwards so we can fly to Santiago by then our South America days will be numbered and we will be gutted.
Anyway sorry its so long,we will get pics up as soon aswe can no USB point this now,
Loads of Love
Happy Mothers Day to Pam and Gladys!! xxxxxx
