So I blatantly lied to you and didn’t spend really any time sleeping yesterday. I Skyped with Candace and Dave and little Mason for about a half hour last night then I talked to Richard Merritt, the man himself, for some time and there was a free BBQ at the hostel so we decided to make some sangria. Everyone at the hostel was ready to eat pretty early because we were starving however everything was running on Chilean time and we didn’t end up eating until like midnight which wasn’t all that terrible actually. It was one of the girl’s birthdays in the hostel so we all went out to a bar that was near the hostel. It was alright but nothing too crazy and we got some late night food like always and headed back to the hostel. Aaron was getting up the next day to go to Mendoza, Argentina and meet the Dutchies for a wine tour and to spend some time there, it was too tempting to pass up so we decided to get our shit together early and head out with him to the bus station on a whim. We were rolling the dice a little bit
since we weren’t sure that there would be any room on the bus but there was and we all got on, including Xenia, the other Dutch girl who lives in Santiago. The bus ride was like 6 hours or so and we had about an hour at the Argentinian border, I sat next to a very nice lady on the bus named Lily and we talked about Mendoza and everything she know about it and about her children who were my age and a bunch of other stuff, it was a nice experience. We were going to surprise the girls in Mendoza and for me I was very excited to see Marjolein again. Aldo, our French buddy also went on the bus and when we got to Mendoza we didn’t know which hostel the girls were at because Aaron is an Australian party animal and forgot what they told him! We went first to a really dodgy hostel that was on the outskirts of the city and decided not to stay there thank god because as we kept walking (first through a seedy ass neighborhood with hookers and what not) we came upon the rest of the city and it
was really nice and swanky. We ended up going to a place called Mendoza Inn which is really good however I got a message from Aldo saying that he was at the same hostel at the Dutchies and that he told them that he travelled from Santiago with three Americans and they kept asking him, which Americans? They couldn’t believe that we had come to see them! We settled in at this hostel and went to meet the girls at their place. They were so happy! Marjolein was so happy to see me and I was extremely happy as well. We went and got some dinner which was a huge steak and salad for like $11 and that was exquisite considering that things are a lot cheaper here and you get a lot more for your money! We went to bed early as we had to get up for the winery tour so here I sit in the hostel typing this getting ready to go meet the girls and get some bikes and go see some fucking wineries! I’ll update later but I am sure that today is going to be a mild to moderate shit show, which I am
soooooo looking forward to. The chance to see Marjolein again is also something I relish and we’re going to thoroughly enjoy the time we have together today. Take care everyone, happy Monday. Don’t work too hard, because as you all know, I surely won’t be.
