We left Buenos Aires for an 18 hour bus ride to Puerto Madryn. On the way whenever we stopped at traffic lights people would juggle to entertain us, it was really odd. We arrived at our hostel Chepatagonia in the morning, that afternoon we decided to do a bike ride to Punta Loma. It was 17 km each way. The hostel owner told us it would take 3 hours but took us 6!!!! The bike ride was so hard as we did'nt realise how hot it was going to be and the path was gravel and very difficult to ride on. The road seemed to be never ending and there was so many hills to climb. Along the way we saw a lighhouse and wrecked ship. When we finally reached our destation we saw sea lions and comorodos, which we first mistook for peguins. This region has the largest peguin colony in the world but unfortunately we just missed them, can you believe they have gone to Rio!! We were riding home as the sun was setting, it got really dark fast and Sam D had to ride with the phone light to see where we were going. We finally got

home and treated ourselves to chocolate.

The next day we had to get up at 7 am to go on a tour we had already booked to Valdes Peninsula. We both wish that we had'nt booked it as we ached all over. We visited 3 places and saw foxes, sea lions and elephant seals. It was a really good tour but unfortunately we were out of season and did'nt get to see orcas, dolphins, whales and peguins that are normally there.

The next day we relaxed to recover this hostel felt more like home. We watched movies, did our laundry and booked our next bus to Rio Gallegos. In the morning our washing was'nt dry so we left them on the heater only to find it was a gas heater, our knickers and socks had turned brown and we nearly set the kitchen alight!

That afternoon we left to catch our bus to Rio Gallegos. On our way we got stuck as it was heavy snow and the bus took 4 hours longer than usual.

Hello
Hi Sam d, I too have been really enjoying reading your blogs and admiring the lovely pictures. I've been printing them out and taking them to Nannie Val and Grandad Arthur each time as well. They have also enjoyed reading them. It all sounds amazing, especially all the wildlife you are seeing. I don't envy the long bus journeys though, that must be hard going at times. Belated birthday wishes to you Sam. I hope you had a lovely day. You both seem to be doing really well, keep it up and take care. Love from your Aunt Sandra xx
