day of the big game Well, i´ve survived one week in the city that never sleeps, always smokes, drives like hell, and is impossibly easy to be a tourist in. I´m living in a great guest house in a trendy neighbourhood named Palermo complete with a bbq, a rooftop terrace, a full kitchen and more yerba mate than one could ever drink. As I said, i´ve been here for one week, i survived the 11 hour flight sitting smack in the middle of two argentine highschool girls basketball teams. I will likely stay another couple days before heading westward to Mendoza where I hope to sample the wine, the rafting, the skiing (las leñas), and the hangliding.
Tomorrow I´m going on a day trip to Uruguay because it´s just that close.
The food here in BA is amazing, the people are beautiful, the city is chaotic while being warm and hospitable. Internet is widely available, prices are certainly on the cheap side, and my spanish is getting slowly better. I´ve been taking language lessons with an Argentine girl who has boatloads of patience for her struggling student. I have learned the basic steps of Tango, one of the things that makes BA so famous, and befriended

some locals who have shown me the city one doesn´t see as a tourist.
