At San Telmo Street Fair
So sorry we didn't get to finish the blog on our trip. But now that we are back at "Home Sweet Home" I can wrap it up.

El Calafate: Amazing!!! Glaciers, glaciers, glaciers. See the pix. The weirdest thing about being so far south is that the sun rises at 4AM and sets close to midnight. Lovely little town that is booming. This used to be a sleepy place where hippies and a urban dwellers came to get away from the sweltering tempatures in the city. Now it is a tourist destination. While we were there, there were as many Italian speaking people as Spanish. It seems that because many Argentines are from Italian discent and the Euro exchanges so favorably, it is a destination of choice. Oh, another great thing about El Calafate. They love dogs. With a population of a few thousand, there were four veterinary offices.

Buenos Aires (Palermo): One of the neighborhoods of BA is called Palermo. Palermo is supposed to be the Soho of BA. It is definitely a neighborhood in transition. Every block has a renovation project. And because none of the buildings are actually demolished, the beautiful architecture spanning 150 years is

retained. What do you find in Palermo? Trendy boutique hotels, small lable Argentine fashion designers (includes clothes, shoes, handbags, etc.), jewlery designers, product of incredibly talented interior architects and designors, and the most amazing restaurants. It seems like the creative talent of Buenos Aires have settled in this area.

We loved Argentina, but we also love home. We wish it were closer

Years ago the people of this poor neighborhood used left over ship paint to paint their homes. The tradition still lives on.
