Sun: and I thought we shopped too much yesterday...

After a somewhat late night on Saturday, we slept in late again today. Before even grabbing coffee (gasp!), we were on the subway bound for San Telmo, one of the oldest barrios in Buenos Aires. (Becky has instructed me to insert the word "lovely" here). Every Sunday, amongst the cobblestoned streets and quaint antique shops, San Telmo hosts a pretty expansive street fair, with people from all over the city coming to set up a table or blanket and peddle their wares.

For approximately a mile long stretch, thousands of locals and tourists alike peruse the goods, and perhaps stop to grab a coffee or lunch. There were also several impromptu tango performances staggered throughout. About halfway through, we stopped at a gorgeous, out-of-the way cafe/theatre for some empanadas and cafe con leche to recharge our batteries and caffeinate Chris.

Among our purchases were a mate gourd for Chris and a photograph destined for our kitchen wall. After walking back to la Plaza de Mayo (see Wednesday's post), we wandered a bit more before hopping back on the subte for home. Becky napped, and then we went back our to our neighborhood square for (even more) shopping and a bite to eat.

It's been a pretty low key Sunday evening, as we've been prepping and packing for our trip to Iguazu falls tomorrow. Doubtful that we'll have internet access, so we hope this finds you well and we'll post again on Wed/Thurs once we're back in BA.

Adios.
