Buenos Aires
Known as the Paris of
Latin America, strongly influenced by
European culture&renowned for architecture, night life, cultural activities,
style&leather!!! 17 hrs bus ride from Iguassu approx 126 peso and it was pure
luxury, steak for dinner on the bus followed by wine and beer of your choice....
This place is magnificent so much so that am going to try and extend my ticket until the end of Jan and live here for a month, already looking for an apartment.
We are staying in
Giramondo Hostel in Palermo 31peso per night. Went
shopping literally 30 mins after we arrived in
Florida Street in the city, its so easy to get around here with buses&subway, the
style is unbelievable, even the beggars make an effort&the people are extremely nice.
Compared to home its so cheap the leather coats are just wow!....for example I came across a beautiful rustic coloured knee length fitted hard
Buenos Aires
Me and Che....Bumped into him in BA...so excited...what a guy! leather coat with buttons...less than 200USD...home 700/800 .....Id have to ship it home though if I get it.....dillema.... I really shouldn't´t as I'm spending waaay too much!
The nightlife.....where do I start, firstly I am
city lagged from this place..if there is such a phrase, they go out to
eat at 11pm...then drinks afterwards,
then to the clubs at 1 or 2am until what ever time&because we are gringos we get up and go shopping or go and see things like
Evita's grave, Che Guevara´s museum and other cultural activities, cant get a siesta in the hostel because this place is crazy and do it all again so we are all
going on 4 hrs sleep every day, the club scene is all dance, electronic music or hip hop....not really into any of them...there are no normal night clubs...Club Classic...HBs that sort of thing...not that I´m missing any of them...
Have met up with Danielle again, Jamaican girl we met in Panama, she is living here now, her friends invited us over for dinner Friday night which we gladly accepted, it was a group of guys only 22 years old and we thought well this cant be much...OMG
Buenos Aires
La Boca...the colourful windows of the famous La Boca they put on the
best BBQ I have ever seen,
Australian BBQs are nothing compared to this, huuuuuge steaks, chicken, roast pepper, roast sweet potato, salads, sausages, pudding... we were
seriously impressed with the food let alone that these guys could even cook!!! .. then wine, beer and they even popped open a bottle of pink champagne!! so in turn we cooked for them a few nights later....shepards pie is what we all agreed on as the ingredients we accessible and Irish coffee for afters...I think they were more impressed with the Irish Coffee myself as we polished off the bottle of whiskey and all the cream!
Saturday we went shopping again and planned a good night, went for an aperitif in the Faena Hotel designed by Phillipe Starck...
The-Faena-Hotel it was so stylish, with lots of famous people coming&going, its 500USD to stay a night, they were really welcoming....and the thing that struck me the most...even about this city is that there is no snobbery.... nothing that I came across anyway...not even in this unbelievable hotel (even though we didnt have rolex or fendi wrapped around us) it didn´t seem to matter....The thing that hits you about
this city is the friendliness of the people, the sophistication of it all, the style...ice cream parlours......uummm!! the late dining!!! which I cant get used to...I love it I love it
LOVE LOVE LOVE IT......................
Pictures of Buenos Aires....click on view slide show and change setting to fast...enjoy! Tried to change the ticket and the only date
Qantas can give us is Feb 17th and its too late so
Rio here I come...dreams of staying in BA are over..but I will be back...
We also
loose one of our
travelling buddies ... 😞=😞 Anne from (Blackrock) Cork...she is off to another part of Argentina...but we hope to meet up again on our way back ...
Rio......42 hrs on a Cama (Luxury bus)......105USD and I'm looking forward to it just to get 40 hrs sleep to catch up on the week that I haven't slept..
Now we leave Marie Therese (Midleton) Cork...she is staying on for another day or two to SHOP...she´s meeting her hubby to be in Paraty in Brazil & getting married on the 21st of December... so all their friends and family are coming over to join in on the celebrations...
