We were glad to see some human life. You can tell how desolate this area is.

Today was a travel day. We left Hill City, SD at 9:25 heading to Riverton, WY via Thunder Basin National Grassland. It was a 65-mile scenic route through the grassland on Route 450. Fortunately it was not gravel! It was a pretty desolate route, no traffic, VERY windy, barren land with a few cattle & sheep scattered about, and some oil wells. Once in a while we would see a ranch.
