The fortified Palais de I'Ile was built on a natural rocky island in the 12th century. It has been a prison, courthouse, old peoples' home, barracks, a coin minting workshop...and is now a museum.

My grandfather landed on the shores of Gallipoli 25 April 1915. It's an honour to accompany my darling 90 year old mum (his daughter) to attend the commemoration ceremony.
