Mouth of Russell Cave

The stream used to go through both side of the pillar, but flooding brought in silt and debris, so the right side began building up. This provided a dry area for natives to live, cook, and be protected from the elements.

In the heat of June, we decided to take a couple of days and go visit Russell Cave National Monument in Bridgeport, AL. This is someplace we have wanted to go but it was about an hour and a half drive and we knew the visit would be short.
