Less than an hour from the track's end we walked through scrubland and rainforest in the shadow of Mount Lyttle. On the other side of this mountain range is the second wettest place on earth, Milford Sound.

Routeburn Track - Day 1 December 18, 2006 We were packed and ready to go… most of our luggage was stored at the hotel and the few belongings we were taking with us were packed and on our backs.
