Pillars

Gaudi was inspired by trees when designing the pillars inside the basilica--look at the branching tops. There are 3 or 4 different types of pillars. The pillar columns are traditional, while the knots and branching tops are modern.

Last night we realized with a shock that the train berth we thought we´d reserved for an overnight trip to Barcelona turned out to be just an upright seat--thanks again, crummy Spanish train employees.
