Angel of the North

In Newcastle, I took a bus out of the city centre to the middle of no where to see this huge statue. Its 20 metres tall with a wing span of 54 metres and its made out of steel. Its massive isn't it! Why was it built? I have absolutely no idea but its now an English Icon.
