Waterfall # 2 off Baker summit

Mt. Baker, the volcanic peak visible from our home (see an earlier blog for a photo) maintains a strong allure to people from our community. I've climbed it twice and hiked to the base camp at the foot of the Coleman Glacier (top of the "Hog's Back") many times. It's a beautiful hike! My home is Abbotsford, BC, Canada. I started global traveling relatively late in life, though I had done a lot of touring around North America prior. In April, 2007 I trekked to Everest Base Camp in Nepal (with Peregrine), and in April 2008 did a tour of Costa Rica (with Tucan). In March, 2009 I went on an overland trip with Dragoman to Africa (Capetown to Vic Falls) to see sand dunes, wildlife, deltas, traditional people, etc. It is on that trip that I started blogging.
