Inside the Colosseum

The kids were intrigued by the five seating tiers and the their relationship with Roman social castes. Senators up front, Plebians in the nose bleed sections. Andrew thought the Senators might prefer to be farther from the lions.

July 17th 2009
Second day in Rome. Slept past nine and it was hot when we woke up. Cleaned ourselves up and headed back to Piazza Navona for “breakfast” of croissants (called by their Italian name cornetas) and very tasty coffee.
