July 16th 2009 The city center of York is surrounded by a 12th-century wall built by the Normans, just one group of many occupants/invaders/residents during its history. When I arrived yesterday afternoon after dragging my suitcase down the wrong road, the b & b owner suggested I take the walking path on top of the wall into town; it was like following an elevated brick road to Oz.
