Cold and rainy weather yesterday and dark clouds this morning. It doesn’t feel like July. Catherine, your raincoat is my new best friend. Good thing I like museums. And Harry Potter movies. The York Castle Museum boasts an indoor replica of a Victorian street (or “gate”—from a Viking word) complete with stores, a schoolhouse, a police station, a simulated thunderstorm, and a mock newspaper for visitors. Such an exhibition has a high potential to be cheesy, but the museum took the re-creation seriously and spared no detail. There were a few employees dressed in costume walking around and sitting in the shops. I was so glad they weren’t in character when they talked to me.
