Elaphanta island is an hour boat ride one way. You get on at the gateway of India next to the Taj hotel. The island has a series of Hindu carved caves that date back to the 1st century (Crazy). We spent a couple of hours walking around in and out of the caves. I got busted standing in a cave with the shrine to Shiva with my shoes on.. should have got the guided tour.
