We anchored just west of the Coast Guard docks in Cape May NJ Friday night about 9 pm. And we’re waiting on a few things - weather, a running outboard for the dingy, a repair to a zipper seam in our brand new(6 days before we left on the 12th) full enclosure dodger. Sailing south for the winter is a dream both Gene and I have had for a long time. Neither of us is employed this year so it seemed like the time to go. Making that decision began what seemed like a marathon of tasks: long-postponed boat equipment upgrades; discussions with others who have made the trip before us; providing to have home chores like bills and maintenance taken care; weeding out stuff to make room for more clothes(mine!), food and water; charts, guides and software for the areas we would be visiting. At times it seemed we’d never be ready but at last departure weekend arrived... full info
