Vaka Entrance

The vaka entering the harbor. You can see the huge steering oars that they have to use. I watch a documentary on the boat, looks like it takes a lot of muscle to keep that boat moving out there. You can also see that they lowered the sails to enter the harbor, one of the reasons I think seeing it sailing was so cool.

Alright so this was pretty sweet. About a week or two before I came out here a vaka (meaning canoe) went on a voyage to Samoa. The boat is a huge catamaran of traditional design made in the 90’s.
