Today I ventured out to El Escorial. Its a cute town with a famous palace/monastery complex called, what else? El Esorial! It was gorgeous. It was built in the 1500's by King Felipe II, and now almost all the kings of Spain are buried there! I went into the Pantheon of the Kings, and it was very beautiful, but eerie too. I was consumed by the travel bug during my first summer of university. I had four months of freedom, so rather than apply for a restaurant job in my small (albeit beautiful and quaint) hometown of Port Perry, I applied to teach English in Madrid, Spain. I managed to become an Au Pair for an ah-mazing spanish family, who took me in, and allowed me to travel around Spain with them in exchange for teaching their three children English.
