Street in Old Pompeii

These are the huge stepping stones which allowed you to cross the road without getting your feet wet! And they were spaced just the right distance for the wheels of the carts to pass over. Apparently this was the same distance they then used when developing railroad tracks.
When in Rome... unfortunately Anthony banned scooters...

While Anthony's brother Glen was staying, we took advantage of some cheap flights and headed down to Rome for a few days. Unfortunately Anthony has banned scooters so we were stuck walking everywhere!! It always worries me when people constantly say how good a place is - just sets it up for failure!!
