Vietnam War Memorial

This memorial only took six years to erect, which is much faster than the World War II Memorial took. This may be due to the fact that when the soldiers returned home, the government took away their guns and weaponry before loading them onto a bus to go home. People lined the streets, shouting and spitting at the soldiers. One soldier said to another one sitting beside him, \"I wish I had my gun.\" After this horrible \"welcome home,\" the soldiers deserved something special, hence the Vietnam War Memorial.
