Yesterday on the drive to Kandy we stopped in Pinnawela to visit the elephant orphanage. Deb and I went there 13 years ago when it was just an open field and a coffee can asking for donations. Now they have a visitors center, sit down restaurant, tons fo souvenir shops and a stinking hotel--A Hotel!!--just to look at the baby elephants. They also have a $10 admission charge. I am 43 and live with my family in Northern Virginia, VA, USA (near Washington, DC). In the 1990s, my wife Debbie Hill (age unknown) and I adopted three children from three different countries. Our children are Nam, 16, from Vietnam; Rachel, 14, from Sri Lanka; and Lydia, 9, from India.
