Toruń Cathedral

Bazylika katedralna św. Janów - Toruń Cathedral (Basilica Church of St. John the Baptist and St. John the Evangelist). Built beginning in 1260 and completed in the 14th to 15 centuries. The tower was added in 1407-1433. The church became a cathedral in 1992. Ulica św. Jana 2. Medieval Town of Toruń UNESCO World Heritage site. Inscribed in 1997. "The Church of St. John, an imposing edifice of the 13-14th cent., possesses nave and aisles of equal height and an unusually low choir..."--Baedeker 1910. DSC_0207

This morning in Toruń was a walking tour of the old town. As I mentioned, Toruń was Monika's home, so she was an excellent guide. The group again assembled at the Monastery Gate. The plaza between the gate and the river is Naval School Square (Skwer Oficerskiej Szkoły Marynarki Wojennej).
