I mainly went to Vulcano to see the volcano that gave name to all volcanos.

The original volcano!
We haven't been further south than Amalfi, and Sicily has always fascinated us. Things like seeing the original volcano appeals to me too :) Your photos are great!

I wish I could have climbed up though...
Unfortunately it wasn't safe to climb up (and not permitted either). The locals told me that there was a route where you could climb up where the police won't be able to see you. But I want to be sure that if I climb up I also want to be able to climb down. Volcanic gases are dangerous if you don't know where they are and how to handle them so sneaking up the back route wasn't even on my mind. /Ake
